San Marcos is a vibrant community of just over 83,000 people located 35 miles north of San Diego and 12 miles inland. With miles of trails that wind through the local hills and over 30 parks both large and small, San Marcos is an ideal place to enjoy the outdoors. San Marcos has many popular spots for dining and shopping and is home to Palomar College and California State University San Marcos.
San Marcos housing includes comfortable neighborhoods and expansive Master Planned Communities. The largest of these communities is San Elijo Hills, located on the highest spot in near coastal North County, giving many of the homes ocean views. Although most of the neighborhoods in San Elijo have been established for several years, new homes are still being built. Over 1000 acres have been designated as open space which includes miles of hiking and biking trails.
